Every family has one person that really enjoys taking pictures of
themselves, or others, in front of some famous or beloved attraction.
Those subjected to being the second fiddle to a landmark are also doomed
to stand and wait with a fake smile until the area is clear of
passersby. To shorten this ordeal, Swedish photo technology company Scalado created “Remove,” an app that deletes unwanted objects, like oblivious pedestrians, from digitally captured photos.
Multiple shots are taken with the app that are then compared to
determine which items are stationary in the background and which are
moving. The moving objects are highlighted and can be deleted, even if
that object is blocking the view of what the photographer was really
trying to capture. It will fill in the offending objects place with one
of the parts from the other shots taken. The app will be showcased at
the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month.
