App Erases Bystanders in Photos

Every family has one person that really enjoys taking pictures of themselves, or others, in front of some famous or beloved attraction. Those subjected to being the second fiddle to a landmark are also doomed to stand and wait with a fake smile until the area is clear of passersby. To shorten this ordeal, Swedish photo technology company Scalado created “Remove,” an app that deletes unwanted objects, like oblivious pedestrians, from digitally captured photos.

 Multiple shots are taken with the app that are then compared to determine which items are stationary in the background and which are moving. The moving objects are highlighted and can be deleted, even if that object is blocking the view of what the photographer was really trying to capture. It will fill in the offending objects place with one of the parts from the other shots taken. The app will be showcased at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month.

Apple uji komputer tablet baru, tawar skrin lebih kecil

APPLE Inc sedang menguji komputer tablet dengan skrin lebih kecil berbanding gajet terlarisnya iPad, lapor The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), semalam.

Akhbar itu memetik sumber yang rapat dengan Apple berkata, pembuat gajet dari California itu bekerjasama dengan pembekal komponen Asia untuk menguji komputer tablet dengan paparan lebih kecil.

WSJ memetik pegawai di syarikat pembekal Apple berkata, mereka sudah menunjukkan reka bentuk skrin dengan paparan lapan inci (20.3 sentimeter) peranti berkenaan.
IPad yang memiliki paparan 9.7 inci (24.6 cm) terjual lebih 55 juta unit sejak dilancarkan pada April 2010.

WSJ berkata, Apple sedang bekerjasama dengan Taiwan AU Optronics Co dan LG Display Co dari Korea bagi membekal panel percubaan.

Akhbar itu melaporkan, Apple sering bekerjasama dengan pembekal bagi menguji reka bentuk baru dan berhak untuk tidak meneruskan peranti itu.
Apple dilaporkan merancang melancarkan versi baru iPad pada minggu pertama Mac ini.
Menurut WSJ, versi baru iaitu ‘iPad 3’ dijangka didatangkan dengan resolusi skrin lebih tinggi berbanding iPad 2, namun dari segi saiz ia masih sama.

Amazon dan Samsung masing-masing menawarkan tablet lebih kecil dan harga lebih rendah berbanding iPad.

Bekas Pengasas Bersama Apple, mendiang Steve Jobs yang menolak tablet lebih kecil berbanding iPad berkata, mereka sebagai ‘tweener’ yang disifatkan terlalu besar untuk bersaing dengan telefon pintar dan terlalu kecil untuk bersaing dengan iPad.

Pada Oktober 2010, beliau mencadangkan mencipta skrin tujuh inci (17.8 cm) termasuk penggunaan skrin kasar yang membolehkan pengguna menggerakkan jari untuk memanfaatkan kekunci pada skrin. – AFP

SAMSUNG akan melancarkan Galaxy Tab 2 terbaru dengan skrin berukuran tujuh inci, tablet pertamanya yang menampilkan sistem operasi Android 4.0 Ice Cream daripada Google sempena Kongres Sedunia Mudah Alih (MWC) yang akan datang.

Peranti kompak (gambar) itu mempunyai pem-prosesan dwi teras 1GHz, paparan WSVGA (1024x600p) tujuh inci, kamera belakang 3MP serta kamera hadapan VGA.

Samsung juga menyertakan ciri aplikasi S Suggest, perkhidmatan komunikasi mudah alih ChatON, sistem pengenalan terbuka, kandungan tanpa wayar bersama AllShare Play dan akses kepada lebih 400,000 aplikasi menerusi pasaran android Google.
“Dua tahun lalu, Samsung Galaxy Tab mula menawarkan lebih banyak kemungkinan mengenai pelancaran seterusnya. Sejak itu, Samsung secara aktif meningkatkan barisan tablet bersama beberapa tablet yang lain dalam saiz yang berbeza,” kata Presiden Bahagian Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi Mudah Alih Samsung Electronics.

Samsung dijangka tidak mengadakan sidang media pada persidangan MWC tahun ini, tetapi syarikat itu telah memastikan yang ia akan akan mempamerkan beberapa produk baru dalam bilik pameran.

Syarikat lain termasuk LG, HTC, Nokia, Huawei dan Acer dikatakan akan membuat pengumuman besar pada acara itu tahun ini. Acara itu dijangka menyaksikan pelancaran tablet dan telefon pintar berkuasa tinggi, lebih banyak peranti menggunakan Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich dan peranti mudah alih yang lebih nipis.

Samsung tidak memberikan harga rasmi bagi tablet Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), bagaimanapun Samsung Hub melaporkan Versi WiFi akan dijual pada harga sekitar £349 (RM1,400) manakala versi 3G pada harga £429 (RM2,400).
The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) terlebih dulu akan dilancarkan di United Kingdom sebelum ia dipasarkan ke pasaran global pada Mac ini.

F-08D and P-05D, Two Disney Android Handsets from NTT Docomo

NTT Docomo is a well known carrier company in Japan. They have set a partnership with Disney and officially announce two new android based handsets called as F-08D and P-05D. Both of these devices feature Disney-themed interface. It also has direct access to Disney’s multimedia contents like movies, apps, live wallpaper, music, game and apps.

Considered as the high-end device, F-08D worked under Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform. It is support for 14Mbps HSDPA network. Deep under it’s solid hood, lies a TI OMAP 4430 CPU that clocked at 1.2 GHz. F-08D sports 4.3 inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution display. There’s 16 megapixels rear shutter and VGA web camera. According to NTT Docomo, the battery unit should be able to provide you with 330 minutes of talk time.

On the low-end side, P-05D is powered with TI OMAP 4430 processor. Similar CPU that is implemented to the F-08D, but this one is clocked at 1GHz only. It posses 4.3 inch qHD screen with 960 x 540 pixels resolution display. You won’t find any problem reading the text contents on this handset, since it is packed with OLED display technology. Although it has no web camera, you can utilize the 8.0 MP rear shutter for taking some good pictures.

Both F-08D and P-05D are support for GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. They’re also offer direct access to Docomo services like mobile wallet and One-Seg.

Pre-Order session for F-08D should start on February 17. While anyone who interested with P-05D should wait until March this year.

ADZero bamboo smartphone

The ADZero may hit plenty of sweet spots for smartphone buyers looking for something a little different. Unlike other wooden offerings, it uses fully sustainable bamboo, is British-designed, with special attention paid to the camera unit, which lays claim to its very own ring flash. It's also running on Android.

現在講求甚麼都要環保的時代，不單幾年前 Asus 手提電腦外殼用上竹，現在這風氣也同時吹到手機上。今天介紹的就是這麼另類的 Android 手機 —— ADzero，相信這是世界首部採用竹做外殼的智能手機。據報導，ADzero 的設計者是英國的一名學生，它採用生長快速的竹子，不僅環保，外觀也極其特別，讓人耳目一新。

這 ADzero 規格一般，但是尺寸與一般智能類似，而且還有人認為這款手機從外觀上看，就是竹製版本的 HTC Thunderbolt。

據介紹，這款手機由於材料特殊，機身非常輕便，並且它首次採用了 ring flash 鏡頭技術。至於操作系統，據說將搭載 “常用” 版本的 Android 系統 (相信不會是 4.0 了)。

據聞這款竹造外殼的 Android 手機將於今年內上市。

White HTC Sensation To Launch March 1 In Europe

The Sensation is one of HTC's most popular handsets overseas, and despite being launched nearly a year ago (May 19,2011), the company just announced a new "Ice White" version. While there are no differences in hardware, the outside will obviously be white (à la Amaze 4G). More importantly, though: it will launch on March 1, and run Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) out of the gate.
